Mother & Baby

Housing & Care for Mother & Babies in the North London area.

PCC accommodate and support young mothers and their babies. We have units of accommodation that are fully equipped to help mothers achieve independent living and successful parenting. Pregnant mothers and those already with young children enter our service and are given key work support to help them deal with their responsibilities, achieve in education or employment and juggle everyday life. We understand the pressures placed upon young mothers and the stigma attached to falling pregnant young and alone.

We offer a ‘Doula’ service to pregnant mothers who face the prospect of childbearing alone. A ‘Doula’ is someone who offer antenatal / postnatal support as well as be in attendance during birth. They do not take the place of a midwife nor a partner. They are a support,  a listening ear, they offer advice and encouragement to the mother and take the time to explain everything that is happening.

Haringey as a borough has seen a rise in teenage pregnancies, with many unable to cope and with no support networks around them. We provide this scheme offering young mothers and their babies a home environment where they can live independently but under the supportive eye of a responsible adult. A person who will take time to help and support the young mother and their child and help them gain knowledge, skills and independence to then be able to move onto their own accommodation.
